No fun

I hate it when household appliances that you use on an almost daily basis break. Well, in this case, almost break. Thank goodness it was almost because I would be in a really bad mood if it broke totally. We nearly lost our washing machine today due to causes incident to old age. It's at least 15 years old and probably a lot older than that. We really don't know its true age because it was given to us over 8 years ago and wasn't nearly brand new then. We think the problem we thought we were having, didn't really happen, and we will be able to nurse the silly thing along for just a few more months. Ryan has been promised a "generous" bonus in March and I guess we now know where it's going. New washer and dryer here we come. It's also going to be used to finish the guest bathroom remodel and finish the rest of the driveway and finish all of the other unfinished projects around here. I hope it's "generous" enough.

I offer my condolences. It sounds like it had a long well-lived life though.

2 years ago our washing machine died [it was also a hand-me-down], and while it was dying it flooded my laundry room. it was a sad day. we got a brand new set and i'm hoping it lasts for a LONG time because they are so dang expensive!

Oh I really hate it when appliances break! Just last year we had to get a new washing machine, dishwasher, water heater, and furnace. I hope your new set lasts forever!

It does stink when they up and croak. And usually at the most in opportune moments. Mine went belly up last year and it was only 9 y/o!!! What's up with that?!

When we moved into our condo, we had to buy a washer and dryer, and we bought one from one of those used appliance places. It's been great! No problems and they were really cheap.

I hope that the bonus is VERY generous so you can get all of your projects finished. I am waiting for tax return time so that I can get my bathroom done--IT BETTER GET DONE or I might go into Cardiac Arrest!!

We got a new washer and dryer last Feb. I would HIGHLY recommend front loaders for both. The washer uses a lot less water and the dryer is on for less time. Plus, you get rebates from Rocky Mountain Power and Questar. I really like mine!

I hope it is generous too. Why stop at a new washer and dryer? I am dreaming big with mine... a new house maybe or a mercedes, that will do too.

So sorry.. hope you can nurse it through until replacement.

It's always funny that.....when you are expecting a large amount of money, It already has places to go. Is it a blessing that things start to break down around the same time???? That's a pestimistic way of looking at it though.
Happy New Year

I have no idea how old ours is either. I have a feeling it's on its way out as well, because I've been noticing puddles around it every time I do a load. Pretty good excuse NOT to do laundry I say. haha.

They don't make washers(dryers) like they use to. Our first set was 15 years old when we got it and we used it for 10 more years! Since then we've had to buy two more in only five years. UGH! I hope you don't end up having to go to the laundromat. That is the WORST!
