I'm still not sure

I've been going back and forth about having the space between my front teeth fixed. Some days I'm all for it and other days I worry that if I do it, I'll be stuck maintaining it for the rest of my life. What if it doesn't stick well and then falls off in 6 months? What if my teeth underneath it end up looking disgusting when it falls off? What if, when it falls off, I can't get in to have it fixed for several days and I have to live with my disgusting teeth until that time? What if I have a panic attack after it's on because it feels so different and it freaks me out? I mean, I've been living with this space for around 25 years. Do I really need to get rid of it? Silly questions for something that's really kind of frivolous. It's not like I have to have it done. It's purely for the sake of vanity. I know it would be a big self esteem booster to have it done, but hmmm...I'm still not sure. I think I'll just keep thinking about it.

I think you look beautiful all the time and I never notice it at all unless you say something about it

My friend had her gap filled in, years ago, and she loves it and has never had problems with it.

I have never noticed this before but I can tell you that I have a posted tooth and it freaked me out for a good year or so but eventually I forgot all about it and now it doesn't even phase me and it has yet to fall out. If you want it go for it!

I have had my caps for 16 years. They made my teeth look straight instead of crooked (cheaper than braces). Only once has part of one chipped off. I got into the dentist the next day to get it fixed. No one even noticed when it happened, except for me. I love mine. My teeth were noticeably crooked and overlapping before. Because of how he did the veneers, they look like they don't overlap at all and he filled in the gap on one side. I don't feel self-conscious anymore about my smile. It was worth every penny, and relatively painless :) Good luck on your decision!

I guess it depends on how much it bothers you, if at all. I've had a lot of work done on my teeth for the sake of vanity and have never regretted it. But, I've always been really self conscious about my teeth. I recently had a bridge put in on my front teeth after one had to come out. I could have gotten an implant which would have spared the surrounding teeth, but I decided to sacrifice 2 other teeth for a bridge just to make my teeth look straighter. :)

Also, it's not likely that it would fall off. I had caps on my front teeth for 15 years and never had any problems. If it hadn't been for the root deteriorating on one(due to passed trauma...before the caps) and trading them in for a bridge, I am pretty sure they would have lasted forever.

It's not an easy decision. Especially if they have to grind down healthy teeth. So I'd definitely do some research. But in my book...totally, TOTALLY worth it! Good luck! :)

I think you're beautiful just like you are. You'll make the right decision. Also, my dentist met me at his office on Easter morning to put a missing one back on. It helped that I been out on a couple of dates with him. ;-)

I had a ginormous gap in between my two front teeth. I have never regretted pulling it together with braces. And it has caused me unmeasurable pain ever since. But I still don't regret it.

Wouldn't a retainer work?? Then it's a permanent fix without all the stress??

My sister had her gap closed and she said "Why didn't I do that sooner?!" Go for it! You will look good either way!

I love the space... It's beautiful not to large of a gap. Just enough to make you look cute and sassy. It's funny what bothers us, everyone else doesn't even think bad of. You have to do what is best for you. If it really is something you are self contious of and aware of and you hate. Getting it changed, may help. Again, I think it is beautiful...but, as to your worries. The advancements of dentistry have come a long way. Even in the last five years or so. What they can do and how strong stuff is for teeth is amazing. I am sure you would not have any problems.

I am still for keeping the gap because I think it is cute.
