I've been feeling kooky lately and not in a way that makes me funny, eccentric or entertaining. Kooky in a way that makes me a beast to be around. I think that I'm getting to be a little more than usual anemic. I have had low iron almost my entire life. I inherited this condition from my mother, thanks mom, and I've passed it on to my son Cameron, thanks me. It's not a fun way to be. It gets worse when I'm pregnant and then improves some after delivery, but it never really goes away. I have to take an additional iron supplement besides my daily vitamin to help. My mom is much worse off than me. She's been so low before, that the doctors wanted to do a blood transfusion to up her levels quickly. She's had to have iron infusion treatments where they give you iron intravenously. She's also had to have a several weeks course of high potency iron shots. Nothing really helps that much and is never a long term solution. It just helps her to feel better for short periods of time. I'm not that bad, so I should be grateful. I can just tell that I'm not great at the moment. I've been getting a lot of headaches. Almost daily. I've been feeling very tired, crabby and uber emotional. Just a general feeling of blah. I can think of no better word to describe it. Unless you've been anemic, it's hard to tell you what it's like. Blah is just what it is.
I suppose I should get my butt to the doctor to have my blood drawn and figure this out.

Sorry about the blehs, hope you can get feeling better soon.
I hope you feel better soon, feeling blah slows you down when as a mom you really don't have the time to be slowed down. Maybe you should take an extra iron supplement with a big glass of orange juice. I heard that vitamin C will help your body absorb the iron.
I am sorry!! And YES you should get your butt to the Dr.!! I have never been anemic so I don't know the feeling but you have told me about the feelings several times--SO GO TO THE DR.!!
It's so hard to feel blah when you're a mom! Yes, definitely get to the Doctor!
Sorry to hear your not feeling well. Being a mom takes a lot out of you as it is.Take care and go to the Dr.!
Meeh I feel you.
It's hard to not feel on top of our game, especially when we have kids and a house to take care of. Good luck!
Sorry you feel that way! It's pumpkin season and pumpkin seeds are excellent sources of iron so get the kids to scoop out the guts for their jack-o-lanterns and bake those pumpkin seeds! (Soak in salted water first, then flavor with seasoned salt, or whatever you'd like.)
I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. I hope your back to your usual happy self soon.
I'm so sorry! I hope you feel better soon!
Uhhh yea, get your butt to the Dr. If I wasn't so sick I would make you a big fat juicy steak with spinach for dinner!! That would help for a couple of days!! Get feeling better :)
I agree. Go to the Dr.!
It's kind of funny (not?) because in my family it's the exact opposite. Too much Iron. Called Hemochromotosis. It's genetic. My grandpa died from it and my uncle and aunt have it. My mom is a carrier so we were tested and turns out I'm completely clean.. which is nice.
My nutrition teacher had to have the iron blood transfusion deal. I hear it's not fun. I'm sorry for your mom and I hope you don't have to do that! But I do hope you find out how to fix how your feeling so you can feel better.
HOpe you start feeling better soon.
