Watching Day

Here she is performing her free dance through a pumpkin patch. Notice how well she is making her body round.

In her heart, Avery has always been a dancer and now she's taking the classes to prove it. Today was "Watching Day" for the parents. At the first class of each month, parents can come and observe. It gives the dancers a chance to perform and also helps them feel like they're being supported. Avery is a natural born performer. She is absolutely loving every minute of each class. At the end of the classes, they discuss a new technique and then they're each allowed to do a free dance to express and show that technique. Today they talked about making their bodies "round". Arching their backs, making their arms into circles, curving their legs. You get the idea. All of the girls were highly entertaining, but I of course thought that Avery was the best. She really lived it up and took advantage of her time in the spotlight. I am in no way, shape or form a dancer. She didn't get her sweet moves from me. Her dad is the very definition of tight and white. You would think with our winning combination of genes that she would be lucky to just be able to walk a straight line, but she actually has a lot of grace. I'm really very proud of her.

Also, today I went out to lunch with one of my oldest and dearest friends, Angelique. No, she's not a senior citizen. We have known each other since we were 2 and if you've read my profile, you know that I am 32. If you're able to do simple math, and I barely am, you will realize that we have known each other for 30 years. Wow.

We went to lunch at the Naborhood Bakery in Gardner Village because we thought our little kids would enjoy seeing the witch decorations. Now, I'm not one who likes to drop names even though when I threw Angelique a wedding shower 5 years ago, she was working at KUTV. I got to invite Shauna Lake (she called my house to RSVP), Mary Nickles, and that girl who does the weather in the morning. I then got to feed them food I prepared. I also don't like to mention the fact that while I had an 8 hour layover in New York, we went downtown and ate lunch at the Hello Deli. If anyone watches Late Night with David Letterman, you'll know the Hello Deli. Rupert Jee was kind enough to pose for a picture with me while I was there.

But, like I said, I don't like to drop names or anything. Which is why I won't mention that we went to the Naborhood Bakery because Ryan's uncle Mark owns it. I'll just say that they have delicious food and you should check them out the next time you're at Gardner Village.

Hey, I've been to the Naborhood Bakery!

The one time I went in there, I was sitting next to Donny Osmond, Steve Young, and the guy who plays Satan in the temple video. But I don't like to drop names either.

I used to watch Letterman back when he was funny and I fell in love with shy little Rupert. You're so lucky you got to meet him.

I thought I recognized Rupert! I used to stay up and watch Dave with my dad when I was in high school. Ah, memories! :)

I need to go to the Naborhood Bakery while we're there in Utah. Not like I'm going to have anything else to do. Everyone's going to get so sick of us because we're getting SOOOOO much time off...

You are so funny! I love that you have Avery in classes, remember that I have no daughters so if you feel like she needs more supporters then call me and I would love to come and watch a recital or two... I love that you are a humble non name dropper as well. My name dropping includes Donny Osmond (my first love in fifth grade) and dancing with Chubby Checker.. Wooo, wooo!!!
