Prayers needed

Yesterday, Avery, Peyton and I were out and about. Avery and I decided that we wanted desperately needed a Dr. Pepper. Yes, I let my 4 year old drink Dr. Pepper. So, I went to the drive-thru of Wendy's to get a couple. I ordered, there was a pause and then, "I'm so sorry, but we're out of Dr. Pepper." What?! NOOOOOOOOOOO! The world stopped and time stood still. Avery wept. Really, she did. I wanted to, but I kept my tears on the inside. I simply said, "Oh crud!" and drove away. I don't remember if I drove safely. My world was really thrown off balance.

This incident made me realize something. I've known it for years. We (really I) have a very serious problem. We're (really me) addicted to Dr. Pepper. I had such a scare, I'm almost sort of contemplating getting off the stuff. Almost. Also, I've actually started running again on a semi-regular basis and drinking Dr. Pepper is counter productive to what I'm trying to do. It's just that I love it so much. It's my idea of heaven. Pray for us. If we're really going to quit, we'll need all the help and support we can get to get this monster off our backs.

P.S. Just in case you're wondering, of course I drove straight to a gas station from Wendy's and bought both of us one there.

P.S.S. I also ran last night. It was only for about 21 minutes, but I did burn off around 120 calories. I then promptly came in the house and ate a Cadbury Creme Egg to cancel out any of the good effects the running may have had.

I know how you feel I too am a lover of DP....and your reaction is very common! Haha...I have a recipe for Sweet Pork that uses DP so if you need any more excuses to purchase it this is a great one!

Mmmm...Cadbury Creme Egg.

I'm sorry for the addiction. It will be difficult, but I know you can overcome it!

OMG! I almost went to Wendy's for lunch, so glad I didn't! I would've been heartbroken!

Giving up the DP is hard stuff. I think the most I ever gave it up for was 8 months. My first sip after that was NASTY. My second sip was heaven. lol, ok maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that.

I will also fast for you and put you on the prayer roll at the temple.

LOL! Love Kristina's comment!

Good Luck on the addiction, that's a hard one. I knew there is a reason I stay away from the DP stuff!☺

I was going to suggest putting your name on the prayer roll but Kristina beat me with the comment. Do they have a DP group to help get you off of it

You will be in our prayers! :)
And I do exactly the same thing after running-- I ruin it by eating something that I shouldn't. Darn sweets!

Hi! I blog hopped over here from Author Bee's Blog and enjoyed this post. Good luck with giving up Dr. Pepper--that is a hard thing to do, but it will be worth it in the end!

Love your blog!

Lisa - Dr P and pork sounds like a match made in heaven.

Becky - thanks for stopping by.

Is it acceptable to put your own name on the temple prayer roll? I'm going tonight. Maybe I should. ☺

I am addicted as well. It is sad. I try about once a month to "kick the habit" but always end up falling off the wagon after a couple of days. If you find something that works let me know!

As you know, my addiction is coke and I'm trying to get off it. Dang. It's hard. It's my get up and go drink in the morning. Still have a hard time functioning without it. Ugh.
2 cokes in 2 weeks is too little.

Ok, sometimes I don't like cyber-conversations because unless you know the person reeeeeally well, you're not sure of their tone. LOL. So I'm not sure if Kristina P. was being sarcastic/sacreligious or what :) but I hope you and Avery can kick the Dr. Pepper habit soon! :)

In my book, you're still up one!! You ran first then ate the chocolate!! If you would have just eaten the chocolate.....

Good luck with the Dr. P. I'm trying really hard to quite the Diet coke, again!!

I quit the Dr. Pepper 7 years ago. That doesn't mean to say that I don't still crave it. The pop top of a can--sets me off but the smell--that takes me right over the edge. I haven't relapsed yet but who knows what the future holds!! Good luck (you'll need it for the massive headaches and withdrawls)!!
