I'm a murdiddlyurdler

Actually, I need to learn how to become one. You see, we have an ant problem at our house. They seem to be everywhere, but especially in the dining room. It makes sense they would be in there because there are always crumbs in there. It wouldn't matter if I swept the floor and vacuumed the rug under the table every day, crumbs would still manage to find their way in there. I have four kids and kids are messy creatures.

I've put out ant traps, but they're not doing a lick of good. Just today, I was sweeping in there and one of the traps was covered with ants enjoying a feast of crumbs. They were in fact, using it as a table of sorts. What good is a trap if it's not going to kill them? Short of spraying down every corner of my house with Raid and sweeping and vacuuming 10 times a day, I don't know what else to do to get rid of them. Does anyone have any suggestions?

We have the same problem but ours are in the kitchen. I would try spraying all around the base of your house outside and then spray along the baseboards and under cupboards. I use Raid indoor spray that is supposed to be safe to use indoors. Good luck. I hate ants.

If you don't have any pets you could sprinkle some splenda outside to kill them before they come in.

I don't have any advice, just sympathy. We had ants last year and it was awful. So far this year we've been OK, I hope it stays that way!

Yikes... those guys are hard to get rid of when there is food around! You can spray around your house. There is that stuff that you just coat at the base of the whole outside of your house. There is even stuff safe enough to do the inside as well. Also, have you seen those sticky traps? We have caught a few mice with them, but they work best for spiders and bugs. Try laying a few of those around under the kitchen table. Just tell your kids to watch where they step :)

Give us an update with whatever you chose!

I swear I remember hearing something about pepper, or was it red pepper? Maybe that is for the gardens. I just use good old raid too! Damn you ants! Damn you!

HATE ANTS!!! We use to live on an old ant hill and they were HORRIBLE!!! Finally had to pay for a bug man to come out and spray every month. I could not get rid of them on my own. I have heard Boric acid works well. We tried to make our own concoction but it did not work. -- I love the new look of your blog. Hope things are good.

Avon Skin so Soft. Ants will NOT cross a line of it. When we lived in Cali, I would wipe down really well with that stuff anywhere the ants were coming in. Worked great, non toxic.

We get ants in our house EVERY YEAR! We tried everything. Salt, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, bug spray like crazy...you name it we tried it. Finally we found this stuff that did the trick. It's called Terro ant killer. It's liquid stuff that you put a drop or 2 on a small peice of cardboard and place it around where you see them the most. (You have to be sure to keep kids and pets away from it though.) It acutally attracts the ants and within minutes there are ants eating it like crazy and you think you've just made the problem worse. But they eat it, take it back to the nest within a day or 2 NO MORE ANTS!! It's fabulous stuff. And it only took us 3 years to discover it. :)
