I love to see the temple

Last night, I went to my ward's temple night at the Jordan River Temple. I went by myself because Ryan ended up having to work. I already had babysitting arranged and figured it would be silly to waste it and sit at home. I left just after 6:00 to give myself plenty of time to get there for the 7:00 session. Even leaving then, it still took until about 6:40 to get there. Traffic, etc. I rushed in to get ready. (Don't we all do that?☺)

I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. It was a lovely, spiritual, relaxing evening. On my way out to my car, I walked slowly to try and make my time there last as long as I could. I was in no rush to get back to life. I noticed that others were doing the same thing. No one seemed in any hurry to leave. The exact opposite of on the way in. Seeing it only confirmed to me once again just how important regular temple attendance is. It's not only good for those we are there for, it's good for us. It lifts and nourishes us spiritually and we can't help but leave in a better mood.

Ryan and I have committed to each other that we will attend our ward's temple night every month. We attend fairly regularly (not once a month, but probably every couple of months), but have never been very good about making it there on that specific night. We need to and we will. I want to feel the way I did last night a lot more often.

I wish I would have been there with you. Instead I was dealing with puke and fevers.

Because of our work schedules, I don't think we've ever attended a ward temple night since we've been married. Temple attendance is something we definitely need to improve.

Good for you going by yourself. For a while I was going every week with my mom and grandma while the kids were in school, but I haven't been at all since summer vacation started. I need to go again!

It's so weird now that the temple in my hometown is so accessible! It's ten minutes from my house now instead of a two-hour drive to Oakland. I feel like my parents live in Utah now or something!

Glad you got to go, dad had the kids over to see me half the time LOL but they were good. Avery still decided she wanted to have a bath in grandma's tub. I feel that way after going to the temple also

Oh, how I wish there were a temple close by! There isn't even one in this country!!! Blah. There are only 3 in this whole CONTINENT!! Our branch had a temple trip planned for just this past week--the yearly pilgrimage to the temple--but the NIGHT BEFORE they were supposed to leave, the temple wrote an email to the senior couple here who were coordinating everything, and said that they had an emergency closure, and that we had to cancel our trip. It's been pretty devastating. For a lot of people. It's not like we can just find another one to go to. I've never heard of emergency temple closures before, but, then again, the temple IS in Nigeria, and it's a SCARY place.

What a good post. Yes, I always feel more relaxed and happier when I leave the temple.

We try to go at least once a month too. I love the way it makes me feel and puts things back into perspective for me. I wish I could just go every morning and forget this whole work thing. Dang it.
