I've finally decided to let Tyler & Cameron share a room for real. Avery has agreed to switch bed frames with Cameron so that we can set up the bunk beds again. She's been using one and Tyler the other. We're going to go to the store this morning and buy some paint to make both frames all matchy, matchy again. Currently, one is red and the other is white. I forced Tyler to clean the room yesterday. I gave him two hours to do it himself. Of course, he did nothing. He whined and whined and whined about how hard it was to clean his room. He couldn't do it himself. I just didn't understand he NEEDED my help. I kept telling him that he wouldn't like it if I came to help. There would be a lot of yelling and a lot of throwing away of "precious childhood memories." (How he refers to every single piece of paper he's ever written on. He's a very prolific writer.) He never listened. It took me about 2 hours once I finally decided to help (do it myself). Again, we removed about 3 shopping bags and one kitchen garbage bag full of garbage. He's such a pack rat. I was amazed at how much crap he had in there. Especially because we did a deep cleaning about 4 months ago and took 4 large trash bags out. Cameron's a bit of a pack rat as well. Although not quite as bad as Tyler. I hope I'm not asking for trouble by putting 2 of them into 1 room.
So, I'll be off to get the paint. (Spray paint so that it dries quickly.) I'm sure we'll all argue about the color. They always want to paint things about 30 different colors. We'll move everything in and try to organize it. They will probably complain about where I want to put things. I will try to accommodate as much as possible, but being the mom I will insist that I have the final say. Then, I'm going to sit back and wait for the headaches to begin.

My kids do the same thing when I tell them to clean their rooms-- "I can't do it by myself". It drives me crazy!
Julia's room is a total disaster but she refuses to get rid of anything. I'll have to go through her room while she's at school sometime soon.
And how brave of you to put them in one room! My kids keep asking to share a room and to switch their beds into bunkbeds but so far we're not giving in. I don't think they'd ever go to sleep.
It will probably be better for the both of them--in the sleeping way. They will each have their own bed instead of both craming onto one.
My kids had to clean the toy room yesterday. What a headache! It took them about 4-1/2 hours--and it wasn't that messy! Oh the joys of motherhood!
I hope that it all goes well and that it causes no headaches. If that doesn't work--you can always escape over here after Ryan gets home and we could scrapbook or something! (0:
Just make sure to have lots of that delicious ice cream on hand. :)
Ummm... I bought some when I bought the paint. I was anticipating a big ordeal and the need of comfort after. Eventually, I will have to learn to self-soothe. My hip & butt can't take too much more.
