If you've got time to lean, you've got time to clean (179)

Ryan has informed the kids that since tomorrow is a holiday and we will all be home, we are going to be cleaning the house from top to bottom. He says that he wants it spiffy before we go on vacation. That's nice and all, but I don't think that he realizes that our trip is still a week away. That leaves plenty of time for the kids to mess things up again. We'll probably have to have another top to bottom cleaning day on Saturday. The kids bathroom requires an almost daily cleaning. I swear, my boys still haven't learned how to aim. I can't resist vacuuming and dusting at least twice a week and I certainly won't leave for over a week with dust on the furniture. I can't have anyone thinking I'm a slob. I'll definitely be doing that again on Saturday. I also plan to wash every single item of clothing, all the towels, etc. on Saturday as well. I want to make it as easy as possible for my mother in law. There might be the odd load of laundry to do. Pants or underwear or something, but I don't plan on leaving 55 loads.

I need to plan out a simple menu to leave for her. I'm sure the kids are thinking that they'll be able to con her into hot dogs or mac & cheese every night. They're probably looking forward to a vacation from my cooking. No. I'm going to have her make the usual things, whether they like it or not. It's not like I only have 5 recipes to choose from. I try to make sure that we don't have the same thing that often. There's plenty of variety around here. I just plan on having her make the most simple things I can think of. I don't want cooking to be a big hassle. I hope that they don't complain and throw fits for her.

When I first started reading your blog, I read that you were going on vacation, but I don't know any of the details.

Just you and your husband? Where are you going? For how long? I need details!! :)

My kids (I include Matt in this) make my toilet such a lovely thing. I am ALWAYS cleaning it! Oh bother! That is nice of you to plan Elaine a menu and do the laundry and a second cleaning. I am sure she will appreciate it. Are her and Eric just staying at your house while you are gone? Seems logical since the kids have school.

Yes, I am still green, green, green (just like Emily) with envy of your trip--could you take pictures specifically for me of the Eiffle Tower, The Louvre, etc. etc.? I will have to live through you and your trip to Paris--maybe on my 20th Anniversary. Gotta go repent again--dang that coveting!

I'm so excited for you guys to go on such a fun trip! I just wish we could go too. ;)
It's so much work getting ready to go on a trip though, even more trying to get your house ready for someone else to stay in it. Good luck this week!

You're going to London?! My husband is going there in October for work. I stupidly said I would go with him next time. What's wrong with me?!

Hey Christa! London- well, you just plain suck. I am REALLY jealous. This is the first time I have looked at your blog, and I have been reading for about 1/2 hour and I am pretty sure have wet my pants. You are quite the writer. Who knew? It is crazy to me how much Cameron and Ashlee are alike. Are we sure it is not the same child? When you get him figured out, please clue me in. She is the challenge of my life. AH. Hope your trip is wonderful. Really really wonderful!
