My husband, Ryan, participated in the Salt Lake 10 Miler race on Saturday, April 5. The race started in Emigration Canyon and wound around, ending at the This is the Place Monument. He finished with a time of 1:17:00. He said he was averaging 7:40 miles throughout the race. I know that I'll never be able to go that fast, but my goal is to try the same race next year. Ryan's brother Darrell also ran and finished in 1:22:00. I guess they're both speed demons. I would never be able to keep up.
The kids and I went to meet them at the finish line and if we had been there 5 minutes sooner we could have seen him cross. We had to park across the street from the finish line. My in-laws were there and met me at the parking lot. We were all standing at the corner waiting to cross the street when I spotted Ryan. So, I don't have a picture of him crossing. The blue speck is him approaching it and us watching from across the street. We were able to get to him about 30 seconds after he finished. We did see Darrell cross. My kids were all very impressed. The 2 older boys especially. They're both going to run a kids 1k in the Salt Lake City marathon on April 19th. We bought them new running shoes that they've been wearing all the time so that they can break them in. They're also wearing them because they look like their dad's and they think that's awesome. Today I was about 5 minutes late picking up Cameron from school. He said that it was ok I was late, because while he was waiting he ran 2 laps on the sidewalk around the roundabout drop-off area. He said he was doing it to train for his race. Both boys also like to "train" by running on the treadmill.
