Stolen Token of Love

On Monday, I sent Tyler to Jillene's house to get back a book she had borrowed. He came home with the book and a little something extra. A flower for me. When I asked him where it came from, he said that he had picked it. He could tell right away that I didn't like that answer. I wanted to know from where. He said it was just growing in some bushes. I told him those bushes had to be in someone's yard and that meant that he had picked a flower that belonged to them. He started to get upset and so I told him I didn't hate the flower. I loved that he would do something like that for me. He just can't go around picking random flowers from other people's yards.

I'm sure that whoever's yard he took it from wouldn't mind too much. At least he was honest. Hard lesson learned but how very thoughtful!! What a sweet boy!

I know where he got it and they will NEVER notice. Matter of fact he got it from the bottom of the bushes across the street and about two or three houses down from me. The flowers are basically on the street (well almost in the gutter). That was a sweet thing that he did, but I also understand where you are coming from. Last summer my kids picked several flowers in the Thacker's yard and I made them go and tell Alan (of course he didn't care but I wanted them to learn the same thing you taught Tyler). What a mean mom I am!
